Clover Press "an eclectic, boutique publisher. Created by the founders of IDW Publishing, Clover looks to celebrate authors and works in a non-mainstream way" has launched on Kickstarter a project to fund a new comic book telling the history of RPGs. The book, written by Fred Van Lente ("first published work was a GURPS article for Steve Jackson Games' Pyramid magazine and his first book was a Call of Cthulhu supplement for Chaosium (The New Orleans Guidebook). He went on to become a six-time New York Times bestselling writer of comics and graphic novels"), art by Tom Fowler ("started his career drawing and painting for RPGs and card games such as Shadowrun, Werewolf Wild West, Deadlands, Doomtown, Hell on Earth, Star Wars, and Men in Black, as well as Dragon and Dungeon magazines") and color by Bill Crabtree ("Bill Crabtree has been working in comics since 2003. His color art has helped shape the look and feel of the many titles he's worked on, including Invincible, The Damned, BRZRKR, The Sixth Gun (also now a tabletop RPG using the Savage Worlds system) and the RPG themed webcomic, Table Titans").
The crowdfunding campaign is going very well with over $ 30.000 collected by 730 backers for a 128 pages, full colour hardback book. Alas, the creators have no provision for 'international' (ie outside North America) shipping for backers but there is an invitation to use shipping brokers to get the book. But a Retail Tier should allow people in Europe and Asia (for example) to get Gamemasters from a comic book store.
