Gaming grognards who read the magazines of the '80s remember that comic strips and cartoons were somewhat de rigueur for any self respecting publication in US and Europe. This tradition endured for decades and such game comic powerhouses (still appearing today) such as Knights of the Dinner Table and Dork Tower were born in Shadis magazine. Different Worlds, the great magazine from Chaosium and then DW Publications, was no exception and published a lot of gaming cartoons, especially from the prolific Richard A. Tomasic (who contributed to Dragon magazine too). In 1991 James B. King publihing label, StarLance Publications, released It's A Gamer's Life - Cartoons of Adventure gaming, a strip format booklet, black and white 64 pages long, collecting many cartoons from Different Worlds.
The selection of cartoons is still funny today and albeit the booklet was a small press release and so not that easy to find, it's sold at very reasonable prices when available. Suggested reading for gamers longing for the lost golden era of gaming maagazines!
